“The European Union and U.S.State Department sought to bring Ukraine into a security agreement which in effect would bring that country into NATO!” explained NYU Russian Studies Professor Stephen Cohen on a late-night nationally broadcast radio interview.
“The Western nations are supporting violent radical Ukrainian dissidents into an attempt to overthrow the government there; they are playing with fire!” Cohen stated over the airwaves.
“Vladimir Putin and the elected Ukrainian government are willing to compromise in a coalition of moderates, but the West has rejected these offers!” Cohen further explained. “Russia was on the verge of fragmenting with the danger of nukes ending up with international terrorists, and Putin re-established security and control. The West should be extremely grateful rather than ceaselessly criticizing him and his policies including the Sochi Olympics!”
Meanwhile American anti-missile missiles plan to be deployed in Poland “to protect Europe from future Iranian nuclear missiles.” The Russians reject this argument and insist such missiles “constitute a first strike capacity against the Kremlin!” As a result Russia moves nuclear missiles into Kalingrad on Poland’s border this area once known as East Prussia.
“Many Russians have Ukrainian spouses and would not favor military intervention this placing Putin in a dilemna. “But the radical violent dissidents are attempting to goad the Ukraine police and military into a violent reaction, and Russian intervention would further fan the flames of Western hostility!” he said. “But Putin cannot allow Ukraine to be part of NATO!”
“All the major American media outlets have failed to explain this situation to the American public and international community which today remains ignorant of a simmering fire on the verge of a conflagration!” Cohen said. Well now, Professor Cohen, we know! Or do we?
